Sufficit retirement planner showing conversational onboarding and plan results

Comprehensive planning that finally feels easy.

Sufficit sits between intimidating free calculators and overwhelming paid suites: full simulation without parameter overload.

Conversational onboarding

Describe your situation in a short interview instead of a hundred-field form. Sufficit asks what it needs, fills in sensible defaults, and builds a complete model you can edit any time.

Privacy by architecture

All simulation runs locally in your browser. We never connect to your bank, never ask for account credentials, and never see your balances unless you choose to save a plan.

Monte Carlo and historical backtest

Two methods, both in the free tier: 10,000 Monte Carlo paths plus a historical backtest against real US market returns since 1871, with a plain-English explanation when they disagree.

Answers, not dashboards

Results lead with what you asked: yes with room to spare, or close, with the two levers that matter most. Not a success percentage and a wall of charts.

Scenario comparison

Change one thing (retire a year earlier, delay Social Security, take a sabbatical) and see what moves. Premium unlocks unlimited saved plans and side-by-side scenarios.

Family plan for couples

Family builds on Premium with shared plans, collaboration, and spouse modeling for dual incomes and dual Social Security benefits.

Build your model through conversation.

The hardest part of retirement planning was never the math. It was getting the inputs right without exhausting you. Sufficit asks in plain language, in a sensible order, and turns your answers into a fully populated financial model. Open any value and edit it directly whenever you want.

Your data stays yours.

Simulation runs entirely on your device. No per-user compute server, no account aggregation, no Plaid. Your financial picture never leaves your browser unless you explicitly save a plan to your account.

Two methods, one clear picture.

Monte Carlo can produce unrealistically extreme scenarios. Historical backtesting has a small sample of independent multi-decade periods. Sufficit shows both and explains in plain English why they sometimes disagree.

Change one lever. See what moves.

Scenario comparison is a first-class feature: run your base plan against one or more what-if changes and compare results side by side. Retire at 60 instead of 62, model a Roth conversion, or stress-test a year off, then understand the trade-offs in language you can act on.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sufficit financial advice?
No. Sufficit is an educational retirement planning tool. It helps you model scenarios and understand trade-offs, but it does not provide personalized investment, tax, or legal advice, and we are not your fiduciary. Consult a qualified professional before making major financial decisions.
How is my data handled?
Simulation runs locally in your browser. Your financial model stays on your device. We never link to your bank or brokerage accounts. If you save a plan, that data is stored in your account. Conversational onboarding sends your chat to our server to build the model (we do not store raw conversation indefinitely). See our Privacy Policy for details.
What is free vs Premium vs Family?
Free includes conversational onboarding, full Monte Carlo and historical backtest, a plain-English result, and one saved plan. Premium ($8/month or $80/year) adds unlimited saved plans, scenario comparison, tax-aware modeling, Roth conversion modeling, life events, and PDF export. Family ($12/month or $120/year) includes everything in Premium plus shared plans, collaboration, and spouse modeling for dual incomes and Social Security.
How is this different from Boldin or ProjectionLab?
Those are excellent, comprehensive tools, and many people find them overwhelming. Sufficit focuses on onboarding and trust: a short conversation instead of parameter overload, and privacy by architecture instead of account linking.
How is this different from FIRECalc or cFIREsim?
Free FIRE calculators are powerful but intimidating, with spreadsheet-like interfaces that assume financial literacy. Sufficit aims for comprehensive modeling with an experience as approachable as a conversation, plus plain-English answers instead of raw output.
Why two simulation methods?
Monte Carlo and historical backtesting each have real limitations. Showing both, and explaining when they disagree, is more trustworthy than relying on either alone. Both run client-side at no extra cost.
Can I edit the model after onboarding?
Yes. The AI builds a starting model you review and edit. Every assumption is visible and adjustable. You never have to trust a black box.
